Kent has a striking variety of landscape and coastline, which is easily accessible for walkers, cyclists and horse riders. There is an extensive network of paths, tracks and byways criss-crossing the county for some 4,273 miles (6,876km). Routes like the North Downs Way follow an ancient track along the chalk escarpment from Farnham to Dover, and the Saxon Shore Way, passes Roman coastal forts.

When walking on the Romney Marsh it is easy to get a feeling of remoteness that is difficult to find elsewhere in the South East of England. The farmland of the Romney Marsh has hundreds of miles of footpath which, together with the quiet country lanes and bridleways, make it simple to organise walking routes that suit you
