Crabble Corn Mill
The current watermill, built in 1812, is situated in the picturesque village of River , on the outskirts of Dover . There have been mills on this site since at least the 13th Century. Rescued from demolition and fully restored in 1990 this Georgian mill still grinds wheat to produce wholemeal flour. The flour is available for sale in the mill shop as well as at several local retailers. Where possible the Café bakes its own cakes and scones using our own flour, while our bread and rolls are baked locally using the same flour - also available for sale in the mill.

Kent County Council was given its first windmill at Chillenden in 1958. In the following year two more were handed over - at Meopham and West Kingsdown. Others followed, until now eight are looked after by the County Council.
